California Propositions Lost, All Hail The Big Lie

All the propositions lost in Tuesday’s election.

It is a little disappointing, I’ll admit, because the attack ads against each of them were well designed to obscure the real language of each proposition.

What is impressive is that Hitler was right – tell a lie long enough and loud enough, and it becomes the truth.  The bigger the lie the better.  The smear campaigns against Props 73, 74, 75, 76 and 77 are glaring examples of this.

No on Prop 73:

“The way to reduce abortion is not a law that requires frightened young women to either face a judge or the wrath of their parents. It's about increasing communication -- about sex, about choices, about consequences -- that prevents an accidental pregnancy in the first place. Californians should reject Proposition 73 in the Nov. 8 special election.”

What a bunch of bull shit.  Increase communication by removing the need to notify the parents?  A parent has to consent to their teen getting her ears pierced or to get a tattoo.  But a teen girl is OK to solely decide on getting an abortion, and the parents are easily cut out of the process.

The parents of the teen could only be notified…they cannot deny the abortion.

The real shit part about this whole thing is this – teen girls having sex is promoted as being OK, and now they can more easily hide it from their parents.  No…it is NOT ok, as this is statutory rape.

No on Prop 74:

These losers are calling this the “Blame Teachers” act, claiming the prop does nothing to improve schools.  Another load of shit.

No one is blaming teachers as a class for anything…we’re pissed off at bad teachers who we can’t get rid of because of tenure rules.

So…we still can’t get rid of under performing teachers, who 1) get tenure in 2 years and 2) are almost impossible to fire after tenure is awarded.

No on Prop 75:

Another lame strawman argument by these folks, coining this as the “Blame Nurses, Police, and Firefighters” proposition.

Not only are we not blaming them, we want them to have some say so as to where their hard earned dollars go, and what political activities they support.

So…union members will continue to have their dues taken from them with no say so, and if they want to opt out they’re scabs in the eyes of the union.

No on Prop 76:

This was characterized as the “Cut School Funding Act”.

Because this prop lost, our state will continue deficit spending and living outside of its means.  Someday this will all come crashing down.

Who needs to put the brakes on spending when we have a legislature who doesn’t want brakes?

No on Prop 77:

This was characterized as the “Power Grab” proposition.  This is partially true, because it was a power grab by the People of California, which they sorely need to do.

There was nothing unfair about this prop – Both political parties chose 20 judges.  Each party then chooses 3 judges, and the judges can’t be members of the choosing party.  Of the 6 judges, 3 are randomly chosen to set the voting districts.  Once they chose the districts, the People would need to approve them through the voting process.

The California Legislators were behind this, lock, stock and barrel, from both parties.  Neither wants a threat to their power, and fuck Democracy…anyone who believes this is a democratic system is fooling themselves.

We have ourselves an oligarchy, and it’s not about to change.

So, since all the propositions lost, please return to your regularly scheduled programming.
